AWARDS ANNOUCEMENT

Sherri Nelson , native of Pulaski, Tennessee was born into the Cross and Nelson family with strong family ties to the Civil Rights Movement. Her grandfather the late Rev. Raymond Cross and brothers along with many of their nephews were all Pastors of some of the largest  African American churches and mixed race churches during the Civil Rights Movement. They each supported each others ministries in serving the communities and surrounding communities in which they lived . Her late uncle Pastor Rev. John H. Cross Jr., who was pastor of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Ala., In 1963, when four girls at his church were killed in a bombing that became a turning point in the civil rights movement. With the encouragement of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., her uncle Rev. Cross made his church a rallying point for the civil rights movement in one of the most volatile cities in the South. She watched her grandmother Elder Carrie Cross whom worked for former Gov't of Tennessee Al Gore whom later was voted in and served as the  Vice President of the United States. In 1982 , Sherri's was 15 years old her grandparents took a early retirement  to help care of Sherri's mother whom was fighting an aggressive form of cancer which at 32 years old Sherri's mother lost her fight to cancer two weeks after her grandmother retired  in Sherri's arms . Once retired Elder Cross spent time educating her grandchildren daily about the importance of helping others , while she continued working serving in the church as an Elder ,her community , and head of the Democratic Party for her area while fighting for equal rights for all .

 

Her grandparents  and mothers siblings were a even stronger influence and presence in Sherri and her sister Minister Cassandra Barbers  life. Minister Cassandra before her passing  assisted in one of the local family ministries and committed to outreach in her community which is the largest bi-racial churches in the community of Giles County in Pulaski,Tennessee. Sherri applied her hurt of the lost of her mom into her education and graduated high school at the age of 17 . In 1984, Sherri moved to Atlanta , Georgia to attend college and was approached by members of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church to visit. Upon her visit a new Pastor was just appointed at the church whom later became her pastor and strong supporter of her outreach vision the late great man of God Bishop Eddie L Long . In 2001 she became a licensed affiliate broker in Georgia and assisted on a new housing ministry at New Birth which exposed her to the urgent need for housing in Atlanta. Since then, she has served in several capacities as an exemplary servant of God and an example of a virtuous woman. Sherri went on to majoring in Marketing and mastered her skills since 2001 which assist in marketing her Multi-Million Dollar Real Estate business  in Georgia with future expansions to Florida and Tennessee.

 

Currently, Sherri lends her services and talents too many non profit organizations, churches and schools thur Marketing as there Realtor ,offering Real Estate Services and Free Housing Educational seminars to the communities in New York and Georgia and up coming the state of Tennessee . She is an anointed woman of God and a blessing to many outreaches,  businesses and  ministry as a collaborate partner in the communities here in Atlanta. Sherri presently resides in Georgia and Memphis expanding her outreach ministries . When in Georgia she weekly physically going herself in the streets here in Atlanta providing at least 300 or more homeless men , women and children weekly with clothing, hygiene products,and some temporary housing  . Sherri currently serves as CEO and Founder of "Destiny Resurrection International Outreach,Inc. " serving the homeless and homeless veterans in Atlanta and in 2018 plans are in place to expand the outreach to Memphis  . Sherri also is a license real estate sales person in Georgia and soon Tennessee of 18 years . She serves as CEO of "Tip Top Capital Investments ,LLC" , Realtor for "Janice Barnett Ministries " provide housing and life skills for at risk young men and children, Former President of the Housing Ministry at New Morrisania Full Gospel , Director of the Women's Ministry which encourages women to develop a more intimate relationship with Christ while acquiring a greater knowledge of their Biblical role as women. In this capacity, Ms. Crawford mentors and provides guidance to the young women. . Sherri has been awarded TWO  Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award from President Obama along with President Joe Biden , Outstanding Georgia Citizen Award  from the state of Georgia presented by Senator Donzella James awarded by Governor Brian Kemp  for her ongoing outreach to uplift and empower homeless families and homeless veterans.

Sherri Nelson Crawford Founder CEO/President of Destiny Resurrection International Outreach Inc  is here with Co-Host of the Presidential Lifetime Achievement  Awards at the Georgia Capital Hosted by Senator Donzella James and Co-Hosted by  Janice Barnett-Adams  " Former Queen of Beach Music Hall of Fame Winner and founder of Janice Barnett Ministries . Sherri was also awarded the Presidential Lifetime Volunteer Service Award for her work in assisting other non-profits , and her work in meeting the needs of homeless families living on the streets in the city of Atlanta,Georgia weekly servicing at least 300 homeless Veterans and Homeless families.
